Assessment Tools

These tools assist in assessing student knowledge and/or student readiness for hybrid and online courses.

Respondus logoRespondus is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper for classroom distribution or published directly to Canvas. Exams and tests can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment (like Word) and then uploaded into Canvas. Many textbook publishers have testbanks available through Respondus. For more information about what Respondus can do, check the company’s Respondus product page.

SmarterMeasure logoSmarterMeasure is a free, web-based survey tool that provides feedback on student readiness for online course delivery. Students are assessed in the following areas: Personal Attributes, Learning Styles, Reading Comprehension, Technical Competency, Technical Knowledge, and Typing Speed & Accuracy. The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete and gives instant results. The survey is not designed to exclude students from courses, but to provide valuable feedback for the student in regards to their strengths and weaknesses related to online learning. To set up an account, contact the IT HelpDesk.
