Information Technology (IT) strives to keep administration, faculty and staff up-to-date on all aspects of changing technology. IT assists in designing and implementing the uses of technology for greater cohesiveness and consistency across disciplines.
The main service areas in which the IT team provides computer-based support are: Network Management, the Student TechCenter, Training Services, Computer Operations, the HelpDesk, the Media Center, the Technology Learning Center, 25Live, Web Services, and Repair Services.
In addition, the IT department provides recommendations on equipment and software purchase and provides technical assistance in the planning and implementation of computer information systems. Equipment Checkout is also processed by the office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Information Technology Services. For more information on this process, visit the Equipment Checkout page.
The Association for Educational Communications and Technology AECT defines Instructional Technology as “the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management and evaluation of processes and resources for learning.” At the heart of instructional technology lays the systematic design of instructional materials. While many instructional design models exist, the Dick and Carey model continues to be one of the most versatile and easily adopted systems.
